The British-Rominaian tactician was due to resume work on 14 July 2024, after his granted vacation.
Lone Star head Coach Mario Marinica has returned to Liberia after more than a month away from job over demand for delayed salaries.
After the match, São Tome versus Liberia in June, Marinica took a break and was expected to return to work on July 14, 2024, but he didn’t do so in protest of his salaries .
The government of Liberia through the Ministry of Youth and Sports was indebted to the coach for two months, and Mario said he couldn’t return to Lineria until the money is paid.
He further demanded an additional two months, but it’s not clear whether it was given.
The former Malawi National team coach signed a two-year contract with the Liberia Football Association (LFA) earlier this year with a monthly salary of US$15,000.00.
The amount covers he and his backroom staff of about six technicians.
Mario led the local Lone Star national team training session on Thursday, 22 August as preparation continues for the AFCON Qualifiers against Togo and Algeria in September.
The Lone Star are away to Togo on 6 September and at home to Algeria three days later.
The British-Romanian is so far the first Lone Star Coach unbeaten in four competitive fixtures. He has won two and drew two of his first four matches in charge, the longest unbeaten run for Liberia.
