Youthful Liberian basketball coach, Angel R. Buckle has been certificated by FIBA Africa Zone-3 as Grassroots basketball development tactician.
Buckle received the certificate on 18 July having completed the required training in Madagascar, according to the Liberia Basketball Association (LBA) official Facebook page.
Training was part of the Federation of International Basketball Association (FIBA) quest to rebrand the game in Africa by training more grassroots coaches, the LBA said.
The LBA also hailed FIBA Africa Zone-3 for the responsibility to host the Zone-3 Women’s qualifiers later this year.
At the same time, Liberia is due to participate in its first international competition for nearly 15 years.
The Liberia U-18 male and female teams will be participating in the 2024 Junior Championship in Ivory Coast from 29 July to 5 August 2024.
LBA President Abraham Samukai has promised to ensure that basketball takes a positive direction in Liberia under his leadership.
He maintained that despite challenges, things will get better moving forward.
