Bettomax Liberia is now the official shirt sponsor of Liberian Champions, Watanga FC.
The three years deal was sealed on Friday at BettoMax’s office in Congo Town.
As part of the contract, Watanga will receive US$20,000.00 per season, totaling US$60,000.00.
Upper Women’s League club, Shaita Angels also signed a one-year lucrative contract with the online betting company.
The deal is valued at US$14,000.00. The contract is subject to renewal. This also means, BettoMax will be Shaita Angels’ official shirt sponsor this season.
Bettomax Liberia CEO, Darren Glover, said his company was delighted to support Liberian football.
“We are a sports betting company in Liberia and we want to support football. We know how popular it is here,” Bettomax Scottish CEO, Darren Glover said.
Mr. Glover made specific reference to the importance of women’s football, stressing that its development is as key as men’s football.
The Bettomax Liberia CEO said the sponsorship deals are part of the company’s social corporate responsibilities, highlighting how involved Bettomax has been in supporting the health sector.
“As a company, we want to demonstrate our commitment to corporate social responsibilities. Every month, we identify a charity to support and we already have two in conjunction with Watanga; JKF and Redemption Hospitals. Next month, we will be identifying with the Healing Liberian Foundation,” Glover said at the signing ceremony.
In a remark, Shaita Angels President Benita Urey said it is difficult for women football to attract companies in Liberia for support, praising Bettomax for the trust and commitment to support football in Liberia.
“Firstly, I would like to commend Bettomax for the idea to promote football in Liberia and been one of the only major companies in the country seeing reason to support women football,” Miss Urey said.
She continued: “When we started Shaita, we struggled day in and day out to get sponsors, if we finally found a sponsorship deal, they wouldn’t keep their side of the agreement, so it has been a great working relationship with Bettomax.
The Shaita Angels President said Liberia is several steps behind in terms of the speed of football development in the world, but thinks with companies like Bettomax, the country can easily catch up.
Watanga CEO, Andy Quamie said with the financial support, Watanga will retain the league this season.
“We want to be grateful to Bettomax, last year they weren’t our official sponsor, but at least they were identifying with us during our CAF Confederation games.” Quamie said.
Bettomax is one of the leading sports betting companies in Liberia.
