Lone Star search for a lethal striker to fit-in for 32-year old William Jebor is seemly over.
Jebor scored 13 goals in 23 appearances with the Lone Star, including a hat-trick against Guinea Bissau in a World Cup qualifier played in Bissau.
But the one time ’Golden Boy’, who currently plays his club football in Iraq, has since struggled to regain his form.
The good new is Nigerian born, Emmanuel Ernest has repoetedly made known his intension to switch allegiance to Liberia after representing Nigeria at Under-20 level.
The 23-year old FC Aarau player was born to a Nigerian father, but he’s keen on represent his mother homeland.
The striker’s decision is apparently out of fear that he stands a slim chance of getting a call-up to the star studded Super Eagles.
Ernest said, Liberia is gifted with so many talents, and is addition would be an added advantage to make the Lone Star a formidable side in Africa.
“Liberia National team should not be missing out on the Nations Cup and other international competitions with the talents in the squad.
“And I strongly believed that adding me to the many talents already in the squad will make the Lone Star a competitive side,” Ernest is quoted as saying.
The former Nigeria Under-20 attacker moved to Switzerland on a free-transfer this summer, from Northern Cypriot club Cetinkaya Tsk, and has reportedly signed a two-year deal with the Swiss Challenge League side.
The towering attacker, who adapted quickly to earn himself a place in Brunello Lacopetta’s squad, scored 29 goals for Cetinkaya TSK in 28 appearances last season, and has bagged two goals in three matches for FC Aarau this season.
He scored the lone goal for his new Club on Saturday in their 3-1 home defeat to Neuchâtel Xanax, having netted in his debut match for FC Aarau against FC WIL 1900.
Ernest, if call-up by current coach Mario Marinica, will join the list of eligible players with Liberian heritage called-up to the Lone Star.
Peter Butler provided opportunity for several players with Liberia lineage playing their club football in Europe and elsewhere.
The Englishman handed call-up to the likes of Joel Johnson Alajarin, Seth Kanteh Hellberg, Mohammed Sangare, Justin Salmon and Mark Pabai.
Others are, Jamal Arago who represented Ghana on several occasions at youth level, Joachim Adukor and Brem Soumaoro.
Ayouba Kosiah and Cherif Diallo also doomed the Lone Star jersey under coach Butler.
Patrick Nyema Gerhardt born in SwitzerlanBosons born Boison Wynney de Souza, are two players who switched their allegiance of recent to represent Liberia.
