Liberia has conceded three consecutive defeats at the ongoing FIBA Afro Zone -3 U-18 Championship in Ivory Coast.
Liberia Women’s U-18 team lost 52-50 points to Ivory Coast on Thursday.
The match reportedly ended controversially, according sports journalists travelling with the team.
According to the report, Liberia led the match by 50-49 points ,but Ivory scored three points after the referees signaled the final whistle.
The men’s U-18 team also lost to hosts Ivory Coast by 30 points margin.
The Ivorian won 92-62 points, although Liberia started brigntly winning the first quarter.
The defeat left Liberia with no hope of qualifying to the next stage of qualifiers.
Liberia lost the first match 64-56 on Wednesday against Ghana .
Their last match at this phase will be against Benin on Friday.
It is the qualifiers for South Africa 2025 under 19 championship.
The participating nations are: hosts Ivory Coast, Liberia, Ghana, Benin, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Niger and Togo.
It is the first time in more than 15 years that Liberia is participating in international competition.
Meanwhile Liberia men’s senior National team suffered a 54-66 points defeat to National Basketball league Foreign players on Sunday in a friendly encounter.
