The Liberian Champions will travel to North Africa in a quest to progress to the next round of the 2024 CAF Champions League for the first time in their history.
Watanga have been paired against Algeria’s MC Algers in the preliminary first round of the 2024 CAF Champions League.
The first of the two-legged ties will be played at the SKD Stadium between August 16-18, 2024.
In their debut appearance, Watanga failed to advance to the next round of the CAF inter-club competition.
They lost 3-0 away to Rivers United of Nigeria and won 1-0 at home, losing on a 3-1 aggregate.
Watanga have won the Liberian top division twice since their formation in 1997.
The visitors, MC Alger are one of the most successful Algerian clubs having won the domestic league 8 times, and the domestic cup 8 times, tied with USM Alger, CR Belouizdad and ES Sétif.
Meanwhile, Liberia CAF Confederation Cup representative, Paynesville FC will battle Fovu De Baham of Cameroon.
The first leg of the pairing will take place at the SKD between 16-18, August 2024. Fovu de Baham will host the return fixture in Cameroon between August 23-25,2025.
It will be the first continental appearance for Paynesville FC who won the Liberian league cup last season.
