The Ministry of Youth and Sports (MYS) has summersaulted on a decision to exclude Basketball from the 2024/2025 National County Sports meet (NCSM).
Acting Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Murvee Gray at a news conference recently, announced that basketball won’t be featured in the annual sporting festival, citing financial constraints as a reason.
The decision was graced by huge criticism from basketball followers,many of won’t said it was a clear manifestation of the ministry’s lack of interest in the development of basketball.
Basketball, arguably the second most followed sport in Liberia was omitted from the last edition of the annual event.
Meanwhile , the Sports Ministry has also summersaulted the previous decision to hold the official opening ceremony in Gbarnga,Bong County.
The 2024-2025 National County Sports Meet opening ceremony will take place in Robertsport,Grand Cape Mount County.
